Laurie
Dorsey, ERYT
Certified
Experienced
Registered
Yoga Teacher,
Manager and owner of Healthy Life Yoga

"Yoga is a journey of the mind, body and spirit. It is
taking the time to refresh and renew inside and out, and allowing
that goodness to seep into every part of life and those around
you." -Laurie
After
persistent back pain, Laurie decided to give yoga
a try and found significant, quick relief. Soon thereafter, she
began teaching and has been doing so since Fall of 2004. She later
trained at Chesapeake Hot Yoga in Chesapeake, VA and
received her RYT in the Summer of 2007. Additionally, she
possesses a degree from Virginia Tech in Human Nutrition, Foods,
and Exercise.
Laurie maintains an encouraging style of
teaching where students not only leave feeling better, but the heart is
lifted as well. Her devotion to the practice of yoga as a means to
improve overall health to body, mind and spirit is contagious and
inspiring.
Laurie
dedicates a lot of time to her husband and 3 children, but in her
spare time enjoys swimming, cooking, and keeping up with the
latest on food/nutrition.
Kelley
Advaita Mosca, RYT
Certified Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hour
During a stressful time in her life, Kelley began attending meditation workshops, in and around the Richmond area. These various workshops quickly lead Kelley into the yoga community. After a couple of years of attending various yoga classes, exploring different styles and lineages of yoga, and working with so many wonderful teachers, Kelley settled into the traditional practice of Hatha Yoga. It was within this practice where Kelley was able to make the connection of the body, the breath and the mind.
After 5 years of her own practice, Kelley felt so strongly about the many benefits of yoga, that she enrolled in a 200-hour yoga certification
program by Meichelle Norwood at Healthy Life Yoga, which she completed in December 2009. Kelley also continues to study Integral Yoga, and is a member of the Integral Yoga Teacher’s Association. This association allows for continued education, support, and spiritual fellowship as well.
Kelley continues to work towards her 500 hours, attending various workshops, and has earned certification for Stress Management Practice and Techniques, with Swami Vidyananda of Yogaville, and has also received certification in Mastering Yoga Therapeutics, with Doug Keller. Her hope is to share this powerful practice with her students, in a safe environment, while allowing them
to explore their practice, at their own pace.
Students enjoy her gentle, nurturing and supportive approach to the
practice.
Kelley continues to study Raja Yoga, meditation, the Yoga Sutras, and enjoys the devotional practice of Bhakti Yoga, attending Kirtan workshops, and has personally had the honor of sharing this devotional practice with Krishna
Das.
Shelia
Burris, RYT
Certified Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hour
After
many years as a passionate yoga practitioner, in 2008 Sheila
studied intensively with Iyengar teacher Sandra Pleasants and
Ashtanga teacher Jennifer Elliott to become certified to teach
through the Yoga Source teacher training program in Richmond and
Charlottesville. She is currently registered at the
RYT 200 level with Yoga Alliance.
Sheila's
approach to yoga is rooted in her own experience of the
transformational power of this gentle Eastern healing art.
As a teacher, her intention is to communicate to her students the
sense of the rootedness, wholeness, and joy that the practice of
yoga has brought to her own life. Her supportive teaching
style brings to the practice a spirit of kindness, acceptance, and
play for people of all ages and all levels of ability.
In
addition to yoga she loves movement and dance of all sorts, music,
books, and art. She lives in Midlothian with her husband
Allen and their Shit Tzu Phoebe. She's the proud mom of two
recently-launched young adults.
Jo
Ann Lazure
Certified Yoga Teacher 200 hour
In
May 2006 Jo went to her first yoga class with a friend who had
been a practitioner of yoga for a couple of years. She felt
that it might help Jo find some relief from a very stressful time
in her life. Jo quickly found, after the first class, how
refreshed, relaxed and yet, energetic she felt. She couldn't
believe it! So she kept going back and really got into
enjoying all the benefits of yoga; from the asanas, to discovering
her breath, and the meditation.
Then
in October 2008 an opportunity to study yoga even further became
available to her. In December 2009 Jo completed the 200-hour
yoga certification program offered through Meichelle Norwood at
Healthy Life Yoga. Jo is not only hoping to share all the
wonderful benefits of yoga with her students but to continue her
lifelong study of yoga. She encourages students to follow what
feels "right" in a gentle way during class, yet infuses
the practice with her playful and energetic approach to life.
Students leave class feeling relaxed and revitalized.
