~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Saturday January 23, 2010
Thank you to
everyone contributing to this event! We collected half a dozen lamps
and $200 for the CARITAS charity!!!
About Yoga Day USA
Each year hundreds of yoga teachers and schools offer free or
nearly free yoga workshops to Americans across the country. These
professional Yoga Alliance Registered Teachers (RYT) and Schools (RYS)
are committed to meeting the unique needs of their local
communities and often use their events as a fundraiser for a local
charity.
Thousands of Americans — the young and old, the flexible and
not-so-flexible, athletes and couch potatoes and those of every
heritage will discover, rediscover or continue with their current
practice through a workshop perfect for them.
In the practice of karma yoga or service to others,
these amazing yoga teachers and schools use their talents to help
build community and change lives through yoga.
Yoga Day USA was created by Yoga Alliance, the international
gold standard for professional yoga teachers and schools and the
leader in setting standards that protect the health and welfare of
society.
Healthy Life Yoga and Yoga Day USA
"Spreading the Light."
We are participating in Yoga Day USA by offering yoga
classes to support the local CARITAS program. You can reserve a space in any one of
two yoga classes
offered on Saturday.
The fee for class is a lamp! Yep...a lamp! It can be a
gently used lamp or several lamps. CARITAS, through
a referral program, helps the homeless and the displaced get off
the street. They supply furniture and everyday household items for
those trying to get on their feet. They need lamps!! ....And,
don't forget the lampshade.
We are also accepting cash donations, if you do not have a
lamp. The suggested donation is $15 per class, but we are happy to
except any amount you can donate.
The classes will be in
traditional Integral Yoga style for all levels of yoga practice and
90 minutes in length. Space in class is first come, first
served.
The class times are as follows:
1:30 pm to 3:00 pm ~ FULL
Due to limited space, you must reserve a space in class. To reserve a space, click on "Register Online" in
the upper right hand corner at the top of the page to access the online
scheduler.
Once the scheduler opens, expand the browser to full
screen and then click on the
"Class Schedule" tab. Scroll down (if needed click
on "Next Week"
to forward the calendar to the correct date).
Choose your class, click "Sign up Now" and follow the screen
prompts to reserve a space. If you prefer, you can call to
register at 804~423~8600. Since we have limited space and
want to help CARITAS as much as possible, please only reserve a
space if you are sure you can attend.
When you come for class, bring a lamp with a lampshade
or a check payable to
CARITAS for the amount you wish to donate. Your cancelled
check will be your receipt for tax purposes.
We look forward to having you join us in supporting this
wonderful charity!
| About
CARITAS |

CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Integrated To Assure
Shelter) was organized in the early 1980's to respond to the
unmet need for emergency shelter for homeless adults in the
cold winter months.
CARITAS began mobilizing the local faith
community to fulfill their charitable mission through
sheltering and feeding adults in need during the winter
months. In the mid 1990's, CARITAS recognized that more and
more families were becoming homeless and stepped in to fill
the void.
Now a year-round program serving about 1,300
people annually and with the help of over 170 local
congregations of various faiths, CARITAS has become the
largest emergency shelter program for adults and families in
the region serving people in the City of Richmond, and the
counties of Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, and Goochland.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Sunday November 22, 2009 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Fun Run/Walk meets at 12 noon.
Thank you to
everyone contributing to this event! We collected 291 pounds of food
and $1,450 for the Central Virginia Food Bank!!!
You're Invited to our third annual
food drive for the Central
Virginia Food Bank!
We will be having an open house for
Impressions Spa, Healthy Life Yoga and Strong N Sexy personal
training in efforts to raise food for the food bank. The
Food Bank supports 31 counties and five cities in the Central
Virginia region, as well as 2,000 daily meals to poverty stricken
school children. Children make up 50% of the people receiving food
bank donations. If we can help children to eat better, and feel
better, then they can be better focused to receive a good education
and make a positive change in their lives.
Participants in this one
day food drive will receive a free massage, compliments of
Impressions Spa, healthy snacks and chances to win spa products,
exercise equipment, additional spa services and personal training
sessions. Healthy Life Yoga will be offering mini relaxation
sessions at various times during the open house, as well. We'll
be providing heavy appetizers, wine, soda, and specialty spa water.
Everyone will be available to
answer questions about the different holistic healing services that
are available at our center. Bring a friend and meet the
acupuncturist, intuitive consultant, yoga teacher, personal trainer,
spa and massage therapists, and energy workers. Experience different
ways of holistic healing for yourself, while supporting a charity
that helps to improve the quality of life for so many in need.
Arrive early and join in
the Fun Run/Walk at noon led by Roseanne Guttman of Strong N Sexy
Personal Training. Call 804-405-3820 for more information and to
sign up.
We are requesting a
minimum $5 donation check payable to the Central Virginia Food Bank
or non-perishable food items as an entrance fee for this event!
What to donate? The food bank is in
desperate need of peanut butter, canned tuna, salmon,
chicken and ham; canned fruits and vegetables; hot and cold cereals;
pasta and rice.
Thanks to the kindness
and generosity of the Richmond metro area, Healthy Life Yoga Studio
collected nearly 350 pounds of food and $150 during the 2008
campaign. With your support, we will exceed that number this year.
No registration
necessary!! Just let Roseanne know if you want to be part of the Fun
Run/Walk. We look forward to having you join us!
